- Abstract
The article presents a research study on the legibility of symbols, digits, and letters from onscreen typefaces. It mentions the use of classification tree analysis to examine influence of specific character features on legibility including contrast, stroke variation, and complexity. Results indicate the most influential features for six characters usually confused for including "e," "l," and "zero." The use of the said analysis for typographers and designers of onscreen content is mentioned.
