- Title
Zen and the art of molecules.
- Authors
Francl, Michelle
- Abstract
The article offers the author's insights on the ten most beautiful molecules. The author considers azulene as more beautiful than buckminsterfullerene due to its appealing symmetry. She states that carvone, which is a non-superimposable pair of compounds, is the epitome of the chirality in the biological systems. She says that ferrocene has a beauty that lies in what the form reveals rather than in its outside form. She adds that ethanol has a coating which other molecules cannot compete with. Moreover, penicillin, caffeine, and insulin are cited.
