- Title
Vibronic coupling: Cage-breaking cascade.
- Authors
Hiberty, Philippe C.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the breaking of three lateral bonds in a molecule by moving out in electron from a small propellane cage which results to acyclic cation started by vibronic coupling. It states that propellane has unusual structure with a diradical molecular shape and well-established closed-shell character. It mentions that vibronic coupling can reduce molecular symmetry resulting to the deformation and stabilization of the ground state. It says that one-electron ionization leads to a tricyclic cage molecule through the breaking of no less than three lateral bonds in a short sequence.
