An essay is presented on the sculptures of Käthe Kollwitz's "Krieg" and Otto Dix's "Der Kreig" exhibitions in 1924. It examines Kollwitz's diaries which explore the impact of World War I on society. It features the etchings of Dix which depict the masculinity and narrative disillusionment of soldiers.
