- Abstract
The article presents a case of a ruptured femoral mycotic pseudoaneurysm caused by Salmonella in a 72-year-old man with a history of smoking, hypertension, and angioplasty. The patient was treated with antibiotics and underwent emergency angioplasty to repair the pseudoaneurysm rupture. Mycotic pseudoaneurysms are rare but serious, and Salmonella is a frequent cause in patients with predisposing factors. The article describes cases of Salmonella-caused mycotic aneurysms in adults over 60 years old with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and atherosclerosis. It is mentioned that the diagnosis is confirmed through imaging and blood and/or aneurysm wall cultures. The recommended treatment includes conventional or endovascular surgery, accompanied by prolonged antibiotic therapy. The importance of strict follow-up is emphasized due to the risk of infectious recurrence.
