- Title
The effects of direct-to-consumer-advertising on patients in a northern Canadian community: A cross-sectional survey.
- Authors
van den Engh, Michelle; Bonertz, Lori
- Abstract
The article presents a study to examine how direct-to-consumer advertising (DTCA) affects patients in a smaller, more remote community in Prince George, British Columbia. The study suggests that all health care professionals with a prescribing role should be aware of the potential impact of DTCA. It concludes that the rate of requests for advertised prescription medications in this community was lower than rates reported from larger, less-remote centres.
