The article presents the discussion on resting being an important behavioral and metabolic function for all animals. Topics include relaxed immobility being typically reserved for recovery and thermoregulation, and the resting metabolic rate (RMR) comprising the largest daily activity budget for human; and on-land resting periods being exposed to external stimuli posing threats during their recovery.
