The article presents a discussion of the freedom and dignity of the individual adapted from the book "Orestes in Mosul" by Milo Rau. Topics discussed include individuality of human beings and moral significance given by universalist notions of dignity, freedom, and equality, binary language of victim and perpetrator, and relevance of anagnorisis, a technical term of dramatic theory, in context of recognition politics.
