- Title
Photosensitive fibres: Growing gratings.
- Authors
Gillooly, Andy
- Abstract
In this article, the author discusses the development of photosensitive fibres since Kenneth Hill's accidental creation of in-fibre reflection gratings in the late 1970s. He mentions that the fundamental principle of the discovery led to fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) design. He states that demand for FBGs has increased from the use of the multiplexing systems by the telecommunications industry. Furthermore, he cites the applications of FBGs in achieving pump laser high temperature stability.
