- Abstract
The article presents a study that compares single and touchdown polymerase chain reaction (PCR) procedures for detecting Pneumocystis jirovecii DNA in parrafin-embedded lung tissue samples. In this study, single and touchdown PCR were performed at two different gene loci, the mitochondrial large-subunit ribosomal RNA and the gene coding for dihydropteroate synthase. These two methods will determine which is the most effective for this comparison.
