- Abstract
For several years now, 3D scans of the dentition have been standard in orthodontics. Following on from this, many practices now also print out working dental models for the dental laboratory using 3D printers to dispense with impression materials and plaster as completely as possible. With bimaxillary appliances, however, the manufacturing process always requires a construction wax bite and for the models to be firmly plastered in the fixator. The establishment of a workflow without construction wax bite and plaster reduces the number of working steps and contributes to the progress of the digitization process. The aim was to create a system that can be easily applied in practice on the basis of freely available software and that simplifies the laboratory process in the transition from digital data to analog manufacturing technology.
