- Title
A new twist in the function of the cardiac lipid droplet.
- Authors
Abel, E Dale
- Abstract
The article focuses on the study by G. Haemmerle and colleagues which shows that the product of adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL)-mediated hydrolysis in needed for peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPAR)-mediated gene expression. It says that the study puts emphasis on the importance of cardiac lipid droplet in keeping the cardiac metabolic homeostasis. Furthermore, the study suggests that PPAR-a agonists can be used as a treatment for neutral lipid storage disease (NLSD).
