The article discusses a study which provided evidence that vitamin D, made in response to sunlight stimulates the production of cathelicidin, a compound in the body which can kill viruses and bacteria. Vitamin D can improve the defense of the body against tuberculosis, multiple sclerosis and cancer. There is an emerging mainstream acceptance of vitamin D as an immune-regulating factor.
