- Abstract
The article discusses the concept of mimesis, which was developed by philosopher Theodor W. Adorno, and the ways mimesis is used in the motion pictures of Russian filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky. Topics discussed include the relationship between aesthetics and the concept of mimesis, the role of technology in Tarkovsky's filmmaking, and reality and realism in Tarkovsky's films. German philosopher Jürgen Habermas' views on mimesis are also examined.
