- Abstract
The article discusses the ability of STIM proteins or STIM1 to detect the levels of Ca2+ signals and temperature changes being released from the cells' endoplasmic reticulum (EC). It relates on a study by B. Xiao and colleagues within the issue which showed that temperature significantly changes the function of STIM1. It adds that the function of STIM1 in the Ca2+ signal modulation may be valuable in the pathophysiology, function, and development of distinct cell types.
