- Authors
Toomey, James
- Abstract
The article offers the author's advice about the importance of Africa to the United States. U.S. reliance on African oil, Africa's need of U.S. foreign assistance, and the need for United Nations peacekeeping missions because of the continent's instability all require working relationships with Africans necessitating cultural competency by Americans. Africans' general faith or religious beliefs, views on time, and the need for consensus in decision making are discussed.
