- Title
Belgian Settings and Colonialism in Conrad and Malouf.
- Authors
Rygiel, Mary Ann
- Abstract
Presents literary criticism which explores the similarities in the use of topoi and the asymmetry built into "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad and "The Sun in Water" by David Malouf, to determine how each writer positions his work with regard to colonial/postcolonial concerns. Each book tells of the glorious historical dead as well as the mute, and the inglorious personal dead distracting the living.
