The article focuses on the approval of some member-countries of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the proposal to adopt amendment of the Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) which aims to allow the import of cheap generic drugs on drug-deprived countries. It mentions insight from WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo regarding the benefits offered by the regime to middle-income countries in terms of treating high-mortality diseases such as tuberculosis.
