- Abstract
This article, published in the journal Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology, examines the uterine circulation in women with severe placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) who undergo conservative management. The study monitored 27 patients who chose either to preserve their uterus or undergo a delayed hysterectomy. Doppler velocimetry of the uterine arteries was performed at regular intervals, and the results showed that patients who experienced bleeding complications or were unable to retain their uterus had lower mean pulsatility index (PI) and higher velocities in the uterine artery (UtA) compared to those without complications. The findings suggest that Doppler velocimetry may be a useful tool in managing PAS.
