- Abstract
This article discusses the economic impact of implementing the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio test for accurate prediction of pre-eclampsia (PE) in the Dutch healthcare system. The study used a decision tree model to analyze the costs associated with introducing the test. The results showed that integrating the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio test into clinical practice is expected to result in cost savings of €156,241 for Maastricht UMC+ in one year, with €868 cost savings per patient and a reduction of 13.41% in costs. The authors attribute these cost savings to improved diagnostic accuracy and a reduction in unnecessary hospitalization.
