- Title
Collins, C. (2019). Making Motherhood Work: How Women Manage Careers and Caregiving.
- Authors
Budig, Michelle J.
- Abstract
Collins powerfully rejects the concept of work-family balance to encourage a social movement for work-family justice. In Italy, Collins investigates women's lives under a traditional, employment-based welfare state where benefits flow through primary breadwinners to their families. As Americans emerge from their unsupported pandemic bubbles of caring and working, Collins' call to action for work-life justice through systemic policy solutions to the structural - not individual - incompatibilities of care and careers must resound loudly.
