Reporting clinical malpractice in the NHS.
- Authors
Khan, David
- Abstract
The article takes a look at the protection provided by law to whistle-blowers and what health professionals should do if they want to blow the whistle. It cites the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 that provides protection for whistle-blowers introduced amid a background of catastrophic events. It notes that speaking out against wrongdoing is a professional and ethical duty and it is in the public interest for health professionals to challenge practices they believe undermine patient safety.
