- Authors
Whiteley, Giles
- Abstract
The article critiques the unfinished novel "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," by Charles Dickens, particularly its allusion to the poem "The Curse of Kehama," by Robert Southey. Topics discussed include the possibility that Dickens regarded Southey's poetry as reference while composing the novel, the themes of violence and vengeance that have been evident in both works, and the significance of the opium addiction of the character named John Jasper in the novel.
