- Abstract
Attempts to prepare polypropylene/poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PP/PET) in situ composites via the extrusion-drawing-injection method. Reinforcing effect of PET fibrils on the PP matrix; Mixing of the vacuum-dried PET and PP in varying compositions; Use of scanning electron microscope to observe the morphology of the samples; Indication that the reinforcing effect of PET fibers exceeds the interfacial flaw effect due to the immiscibility of PP and PET.
