- Abstract
The article cites studies on category and stereotype activation from facial cues. The face is considered as the most valuable source of information available to social perceivers. Inevitability and strength of category and stereotype activation were assessed in two experiments. The results showed that the presence of faces increased the accessibility of sex categories and gender stereotypes despite interventions. Contemporary treatments of person perception are also explored.
