- Abstract
The author discusses her efforts at raising money through grant writing in order to keep the library services and the book lists at her library at an acceptable level of service, in response to an 11,000 dollar budget cut. The author comments on her project related to the library's bookmobile which offers wide circulation of book bags to the city of Richmond, California, as well as the several grants she won including the 2010 American Library Association (ALA)/Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) Bookapalooza Grant worth 10,000 dollars in books in audiobooks. Additional topics include the economic conditions of Richmond, California, and the author's outreach efforts to increase reading among children.
