- Authors
Smith, Sharon; Taylor, Joe
- Abstract
This article reports the findings of a study that was undertaken to identify and define a hospital's markets served, and to plan for services offered, at a 200-bed Southeast Texas hospital. One objective of the study was to provide a comparative analysis which would explain the profitability and volume of each business unit relative to the hospital's overall performance. The facility is a "not-for-profit" institution and still wanted to supply adequate service to the community, but make a profit. The study was to be used for strategic planning including a marketing plan.
