- Abstract
The article discusses the surveillance for foodborne disease outbreaks (FBDOs) in the U.S. for the year 2006. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) collects data on FBDOs from all states through the Foodborne Disease Outbreak Surveillance System (FBDSS). The 2006 epidemiologic data on FBDOs reported 1,270 outbreaks, 27,634 cases and 11 deaths and etiologies include norovirus, Salmonella and Escherichia coli.
