- Abstract
The article discusses the Cytochrome b gene sequence and composition of Pyrenophora teres and P. tritici-repentis as well as their significance for quinol inhibitors (Qol) resistance. Results showed that the structure of the cytochrome b gene of P. tritici-repentis differs from that of P. teres with the presence of an intron in P. teres following amino acid position 143 which was not observed in P. tritici-repentis. This reflects that resistance based on the G143A mutation may unlikely to occur in P. teres because it is deadly. The authors highlight that the G143A mutation shall have significant impact on the field performance and rates of QoI fungicides.
