- Abstract
This article highlights the importance of study protocols in orthopaedics, sports medicine, and rehabilitation research. Study protocols provide a structured framework for research, addressing design, methods, and ethical considerations. They enhance scientific rigor by addressing bias and defining participant criteria. Preregistration of protocols promotes transparency and discourages controversial practices. Public access to protocols facilitates reproducibility and collaboration within the scientific community. The article emphasizes the use of established guidelines and checklists, such as SPIRIT and PRISMA-P, to improve the quality and credibility of research.
