- Abstract
The objective of the work was to evaluate the morphogenic and structural characteristics of Brachiarias subjected to two water availability. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse at Faculdade de Guaraí - IESC-FAG, Guaraí-TO. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 4 x 2 factorial scheme, with four forages of Brachiaria spp. (Marandu, Llanero and two Brachiaria hybrids) and two water availability (60% and 100% of field capacity), with five replications. The variables analyzed were: Leaf elongation rates (TAlF - mm day-1), stem elongation (TAlC - mm day-1), leaf senescence (TSF mm day-1), phyllochron (PHYLO - days leaf-1), number of living leaves (NFV - tiller-1 leaves) and height (ALT - cm). The leaf elongation rate (TAIF) was higher for Marandu, Llanero and híbrido 1 grasses, when compared to Hybrid 2 (p<0.05). Llanero grass showed a higher stem elongation rate (TALC) and a lower leaf senescence rate (TSF), when compared to the evaluated grasses (p<0.05). The treatment with 100% CC showed higher TALF when compared to the 60% CC treatment. Marandu and Hybrid 1 grasses showed a higher rate of leaf elongation and a lower rate of stem elongation, a desirable characteristic, as it will have greater availability of leaves for animal grazing and a better nutritional value of the forage.
