- Abstract
Objectives: To identify the microbiological profile of the Intensive Care Unit of a General Hospital of reference for severe acute respiratory syndrome caused by the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) Recife - Pernambuco. Methods: This is a descriptive and retrospective study with a quantitative approach. Results: There was a predominance of bloodstream infection. As for the microorganisms detected, 18 isolated species were identified, with greater representation of Sthaphylococcus haemolyticus, Sthaphylococcus epidermidis, Acinetobacter baumannii and Sthaphylococcus spp, respectively. The strains were more resistant to ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, penicillin, oxacillin and erythromycin, respectively. Conclusion: The results presented corroborate the findings in the literature on the microbiological profile in intensive care units in the country. It is recommended to use the information to improve hospital infection control prevention policies, through the standardization of antimicrobials, educational activities for infection control and the development of institutional protocols.
