- Abstract
This article analyzes the Law on Drugs nº 6.368/76. Promulgated during the beginning of the process of democratic opening, this Law inaugurated an unprecedented model in the country that corresponded to the political-criminal recommendations of the central countries. Its approval is part of a broader strategy of government control over social life in the country. Social representations of fear and dangerous conspiracy were encouraged due to leftist groups and the population's everyday problems. Indeed, the aforementioned criminal drug policy defined "new stereotypes" and "new repressive legitimacy" for "internal enemies" while at the same time making the punishment for the user more flexible. The analyzes include authors from the fields of History, Social Sciences and Law; in particular, Critical Criminology.
