- Abstract
The article presents a research study on the failed attempt of the Canadian government to force the migration of 65 Innu Indians from Pakuashipi, a community in the north shore of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence in the Côte-Nord region of the province of Québec, to Unamenshipit, an Innu reserve in the same region, in 1961. The goal of this study is to document and value the resistance of some of these Innu who went back to their initial land in 1963. It is based on several interviews with members of the Unamenshipit community.
