- Abstract
Depth hermeneutic interpretation of literature is clarified as a psychoanalytical approach to understanding, following Alfred Lorenzer’s considerations, which aims at latent levels of meaning. Emphasis is placed on the necessary confrontation with one’s own practical drafts of life, which are brought into play as presuppositions. How this is done is illustrated by the example of an interpretation sketch of Kafka’s »Give it Up!«. On this basis, the connection to the psychoanalytic-pedagogical discourse on competence and qualification is established and the thesis is put forward that depth-hermeneutic interpretation processes and corresponding training arrangements forman opportunity to learn to reflect on practice with regard to unconscious dynamics as well as to better cope with practical problems.
