- Abstract
Analysis of national-level data demonstrated a 40% decline in cancer registrations during the New Zealand lockdown for COVID-19 in March-April 2020, as well as a sharp decline in endoscopies, compared with the 2018-2019 period. However, both recovered to pre-lockdown levels over subsequent months. The impact on cancer surgery and medical oncology was minimal, but radiation therapy attendance decreased by 8%. With the exception of lung cancer, there was no evidence of exacerbation in inequities for service access between ethnic groups.
