A sentimentalização dos zumbis na ficção seriada – ou “sobre amores pútridos e rigor mortis”.
- Authors
da Silva, Anderson Lopes
- Abstract
This article discusses the compositional elements that construct the sentimentalized zombie figure in TV fiction based on a variety of series and miniseries from Brazil, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Thus, the main objective is to find possible common points regarding the sentimentalization of characters (in aesthetic, stylistic, and narrative terms) through different television cultures. While the article is methodologically situated in the field of television and streaming studies, the research is inspired by post-classical narratological studies focused on television. The typology of sentimentalization allows for identifying the following themes—unsuccessful affective and family relationships; suicide of relevant characters; small town settings; and the debate about human guilt and anguish—as some of the points of interconnection between these TV series and miniseries.
