- Abstract
This article discusses the diagnosis strategic issues and organizational life cycle. The construct aimed to identify the organizational phase of the vital cycle of three family businesses in Distrito Federal in order to develop a strategic diagnostic. The research context, therefore, are family businesses, ie with one or more members of a family in its corporate constitution. As a theoretical input we used the theories of organizational life cycle of Adizes (2004), family business settings (Lodi, 1998; Oliveira, 1999). It is a descriptive case study, results from a qualitative approach. The data obtained through semi-structured interviews with company managers, aimed to list some characteristics of firms and ranks them as the phase of the organizational life cycle, the second model of Adizes. This classification is allowed to expand the information of strategic diagnosis that are important for organizations in norteamento decision-making and the definition of current and future strategies that become perennial in its market. It was observed that companies are studied during the growth phases, in some cases, becomes noticeable transition between two phases, for example, from adolescence to fullness.
