- Abstract
This article presents a case study on contact sensitivity to chloramphenicol. Chloramphenicol's restricted use limits the number of cases of sensitization in humans, but it is still used topically in ophthalmology, laryngology, dermatology and gynecology. Eye drops have elicited most cases of contact sensitivity to chloramphenicol, but the frequency of this seems to be low. Chloramphenicol can cause contact dermatitis in other areas, including the auricular, periauricular, nasal and valvovaginal.
