- Abstract
This document explores the benefits and challenges of incorporating ultrasound (US) training into obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) education. It suggests that simulation-based medical education (SBME) and point-of-care US (POCUS) can enhance trainees' skills and knowledge in a safe environment. However, there are concerns about the cost and availability of SBME, as well as the potential over-reliance on US for clinical decision-making. Skill assessment methods, such as virtual reality simulators and standardized assessments, can provide valuable feedback for trainees. While there are differing opinions, investing in comprehensive OB/GYN US training has the potential to improve patient outcomes and produce competent practitioners. Further research is needed to optimize OB/GYN US education.
