- Title
Response to 'Endpoint and control group in prostate cancer screening research: public health basics'.
- Authors
Albertsen, Peter C.
- Abstract
This article is a response to a critique of a previous article on prostate cancer screening. The author disagrees with the term "opportunistic testing" used in the previous article, as the testing was conducted in a publicly funded healthcare system. The author prefers the term "population-based screening," even though Norway and most European countries do not support it. The author also corrects some inaccuracies in the critique, such as the misunderstanding of the Gleason Score and the claim that PSA testing has little benefit. The goal of the original article was to provide information to help researchers improve prostate cancer detection and reduce mortality.
