The article focuses on the study related to Chronic Kidney Disease Mineral and Bone Disorder (CKD-MBD) which suggests interactive action of kidneys, bone and vasculature for mediating mineral homeostasis. It discusses the risks of hyperphosphataemia, hypocalcemia and hyperparathyroidism, associated with CKD. It also mentions the use of Cholecalciferol and ergocalciferol (calciferol) supplementation to improve deficient levels of vitamin D thereby preventing rickets and osteomalacia.
