- Abstract
The article discusses the potential for artificial intelligence (AI) to transform public sector financial management. The author highlights the recent Executive Order issued by the White House on Safe, Secure and Trustworthy AI, which directs federal agencies to set standards, provide guidance, expand capacity, and prescribe the use of AI. The author identifies three specific areas where AI could transform financial management in the public sector: document processing, user experience, and fraud detection. However, the article also acknowledges the challenges of data quality and accessibility, as well as the need for AI expertise and collaboration. Overall, the article emphasizes the potential benefits of AI while recognizing the importance of responsible implementation.
