- Title
"Solomon Gursky Was Here": A History by Hunger.
- Authors
Morrison, Alastair
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the novel "Solomon Gursky Was Here" by Canadian writer Mordecai Richler is presented. Richler's character Bernard Gursky is said to represent a stage of capitalist materialism that is enamored with indulgent and greedy consumption. Other characters, such as Moses Berger, Solomon Gursky, and Isaac Gursky, are addressed. Themes discussed include transgression of Jewish ritual customs, anti-Semitism, and Canadian culture.
