- Abstract
Crops are vulnerable to climatic conditions, and their quality varies according to environmental behaviours. Under optimal conditions, crops can enjoy good productive development with increases in yield per unit area while reducing risks of climate, pests and disease. Using electronic instrumentation, it becomes possible to make efficient use of greenhouse resources by controlling them according to each stage of crop development. In an isolated environment, such as a greenhouse, it also becomes possible to carry out production at any time of the year, thanks to microclimates. This paper presents an automated greenhouse prototype that uses fuzzy-logic electronic instrumentation to control its irrigation, lighting, humidification and ventilation systems.
