- Abstract
The article discusses a 2011 case of zoonotic filariasis caused by Brugia spp. nemadtodes in a 53-year-old New York City man who noted tenderness and swelling behind his penis and in his right groin after having fallen 3 months earlier. It cites the personal background of the patient, his lack of history of travel to filariasis-endemic regions, and the laboratory findings. The characteristics of the adult worms and microflaria and the treatment for zoonotic filariases are also highlighted.
