- Abstract
The article compares and contrasts two books of English poetry, the nine-volume "Night Thoughts" by Edward Young, published between 1742 and 1745, and the 1823 work "Death, and Other Poems" by Caroline Fry. Topics considered include Young's influence on Fry, death in poetry, and religious literature in the long eighteenth-century. Fry's autobiography entitled "An Autobiography: Letters and Remains, of the Author of 'The Listener, ' 'Christ Our Law, '& c." is also considered.
