- Abstract
The article reflects on the paradox of the association between drug arrests and increase in cases of drug overdoses. It calls for further investigation into the relationship between interruption of market supply of drugs and increased risk of overdose as drug users find new suppliers. It raises question about the reliability of U.S. policing as an agent of drug harm prevention and considers the potential of drug arrests to exacerbate overdose mortality in African American population.
