- Abstract
A biography of Peruvian social medicine advocate and reformer Manuel Núñez Butrón is presented. He was born in 1900 in Azángaro, Peru, and educated in Juliaca. He enrolled in medical school and completed his studies in Barcelona, Spain in 1925. He returned to Peru and was an official government physician to the altiplano indigenous peoples. He engaged community stakeholders in the "rijcharismo" movement. He was exiled and worked as a private physician. He died on December 7, 1952.
