- Abstract
The participation of oral health professionals as providers of services performed in ambulatory and hospital level, in particular in the ICU, aims to collaborate, offer and add more strength to the new identity of the hospital, giving greater emphasis on integrality of attention and assistance. The present study evaluated the effects of oral hygiene with chlorhexidine 0.12% and mechanical brushing through a clinical case report carried out in intensive care, the Hospital Memorial of Maringá-Paraná. It was observed an improvement in the quality of oral health of patients undergoing the treatment proposed, also a reduction in the amount of plaque and gingival bleeding. It is concluded that the patients ' oral health critics who don't rely on dental care and oral hygiene efficient in ICU, suffering with the accumulation of biofilm and dental calculus.
